Albuquerque Local Food Guide 🍴🌶️
While Breaking Bad might be the city's biggest claim to fame, Albuquerque’s food scene is packed with unique local flavors worth trying. I didn’t live here long before moving away (thanks, COVID 😷), but ABQ left me with some tasty memories! New Mexico’s Signature Flavors: 🌯 Breakfast Burritos 🌶️ Red or Green Chile? (Can’t decide? Just say “Christmas”!) 🍪 Biscochito – The official state cookie, brought by the Spanish 📍 Piñon Coffee A local chain with a cult following. ☕ The iconic red cup is only available during the Balloon Fiesta week inside the park — and only for brewed coffee! 📍 El Pinto A historic Mexican restaurant — huge and atmospheric! 🍖 Their spicy ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender, and the chile is smoky and flavorful. 📍 66 Diner Near UNM. Their wall mural is super Instagrammable! 🥤 Famous for shakes served in giant metal cups — and you get a full refill too! 📍 Indian Pueblo Kitchen Delicious, affordable, and deeply rooted in Native flavors. A must-try! 📍 Sadie’s Local Mexican chain — each location is uniquely decorated. Consistently tasty! 📍 Sawmill Market Food hall vibes! Try the phở or handmade pasta. Taiyaki ice cream was just okay 🐟🍦 📍 Weck’s Local brunch chain. Their breakfast burritos are MASSIVE 🌯 📍 Flying Star & Satellite Cozy local café — decent coffee and pastries ☕ 📍 Golden Crown Panaderia Specializes in New Mexican pastries: green chile bread, biscochitos, wedding cookies 🍪 📍 Celina’s Biscochitos A whole shop just for biscochitos — some even stamped with the NM flag! 🏳️ 📍 Popular – but not my personal favorites: Frontier Restaurant – Right across from UNM, huge portions Church Street Café – Covered in cacti, located in Old Town 🌵 Tomasita’s – Locations in both ABQ and Santa Fe Two Boys – Local donut chain. Not too greasy, but still sweet 🍩 Even though I’ve moved away, I still dream about Christmas chile and biscochitos… 😌💭 #ABQFood #NewMexicoEats #BreakingBad #BetterCallSaul #FoodGuide #LocalFlavors #EatLikeALocal #NewMexico
