Alobar in Toronto is Really Delicious!

💸Beef Carpaccio | $28 Italian-style thinly sliced raw beef: I've had Carpaccio at many places, but this one is unique because it doesn't include capers (those black, peppercorn-like pickled buds). The texture is the most tender and flavorful I've encountered. Besides the cheese shavings and sesame leaves, the plate is lined with chive aioli—a French garlic mayonnaise that's greenish due to the chives. Overall, it's delicious, but I'd recommend pairing it with other dishes to avoid the richness being too overwhelming. 💸Chilled Lobster | $24 Lobster tail rolls: The lime aioli here is a tangy, lime-flavored garlic mayonnaise! The dish features lobster tail, avocado, and crisp lettuce, all drizzled with the sweet and tangy mayonnaise. It's served on a bed of crushed ice, and wrapped in nori sheets to form little rolls. It's a perfect appetizer! The flavors remind me of sushi without the rice (avocado, mayonnaise, and nori are indeed common in sushi rolls). 💸Foie Gras Parfait | $26 Signature foie gras: Unlike other places, Alobar's foie gras is on the sweeter side. When you close your eyes and taste it, you'd almost think you're eating salted caramel cream! The garnish on top, which I looked up and found to be "rhubarb" (a vegetable root), is pickled and has a sweet and tangy flavor. It looks pretty with its pinkish hue and tastes like a tangy fruit. Paired with toasted bread slices, it's simply amazing—whoever came up with this deserves a round of applause! 💸Confit Duck Pappardelle | $46 Duck leg pasta: The dish features marinated duck leg meat with wide pappardelle noodles. Personally, I found it a bit salty, probably because the duck was already marinated, and the additional seasoning with the pasta made it a bit too much. The noodles were also slightly al dente and could have been cooked a bit longer. It comes with black kale leaves and cheese. #TorontoFood #DateNightRestaurant #DinnerIdeas
