American Small-Town Food Diary | Entry #93 🍽️
1. Boardwalk Cafe 🏖️ 📍600 E Lockwood Ave, St. Louis, MO 63119 mxy’s new obsession! 🔥 The secret? Lots of oil + sizzling skillet = WOK HEI MAGIC! 💫 Huge portions, great prices, and flavor-packed! The gyro skillet (usually dry) turns juicy & fragrant here. 🤤 Originally wanted Balkan Treat Box but didn’t wanna wait—happy accident! 🎉 This place is a hidden neighborhood gem. Bonus: Finally tried Ben & Jerry’s Coffee Buzz Buzz… Who said it tastes like "expensive bitter coffee"? NOT AT ALL! Still delicious though. 😋 2. Tuckers Place 🥩 📍2117 S 12th St, St. Louis, MO 63104 A local steak legend with multiple locations! Went to the Soulard one. Pre-meal bread 🍞: Not as good as Texas Roadhouse, but soft & decent (though deceptively filling). Toasted ravioli : A St. Louis classic! Fried mushrooms 🍄: Expected Chinese-style crispy mushrooms, but got whole deep-fried ones—still good though! Steak 🔥: Juicy, thick, full of flavor—especially the bone-in cut! Loaded baked potato 🥔 (butter + sour cream) = so good you’ll wanna run a mile after eating! 🏃♂️ Bonus: Found Texas Roadhouse’s frozen rolls at Walmart—close, but not as good as fresh. Still… better than nothing 😭 3. Random Food Adventures First time trying Shrimp Hot Pot : SO GOOD!! Spicy, salty, addicting! 🌶️🔥 Craved paella… but got SCAMMED 🥘: Waited 30+ mins for mediocre rice, sad seafood, tiny portion. 😤 Schunuck’s sugar-free lemon tea : Add real lemon = almost tastes like Vita Lemon Tea! Not too fake-sugary—big win! 🎉 #StudyAbroadEats #NoMoreInstantNoodles #StLouisFoodGuide #AmericanFoodDiary #InternationalStudentLife
