For my final night in New Orleans, I decided to treat myself at Estrella's Steakhouse—and what an unforgettable choice it turned out to be! The restaurant embodies classic charm with its long, narrow layout and rich dark wood paneling, creating an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere. 🏮🎷 It was a quiet Monday evening, with soft jazz playing in the background, setting the perfect mood for a reflective solo dinner. I grabbed a seat at the bar, which offered a lovely view of the lively streets outside. For my meal, I ordered the 8-ounce filet mignon paired with a 4-ounce lobster tail, accompanied by sautéed mushrooms. The filet was, without exaggeration, one of the most tender and juicy I’ve ever tasted—perfectly seasoned and cooked exactly to medium-rare as requested. 🥩🔥 Though I usually prefer other cuts, this filet completely won me over! The lobster tail was flavorful, though slightly tricky to detach from the shell. It wasn’t as sweet as Nova Scotia lobster, but still delicious and well-prepared. 🦞 The sautéed mushrooms were tasty, though a little less butter would have let their natural earthy flavor shine even more. A delightful surprise came in the form of four perfectly fried shrimp served with a tangy remoulade sauce—crispy, golden, and absolutely delicious! 🍤 The standout of the evening, besides the food, was Eric the bartender. A true New Orleans character—friendly, engaging, and happy to share stories when things were quiet. He shared that the beef is locally sourced, grass-fed, and raised within 100 miles of the city. It really showed in the quality! 👨🍳💬 Eric’s warmth and professionalism made my last night in NOLA even more special.
