I decided to spend my last night in New Orleans at Estrella's — and what a perfect choice it turned out to be! The restaurant has that classic, intimate feel: narrow, dimly lit, with rich dark wood paneling and soft jazz playing in the background 🎷🕯️. It was a quiet Monday evening, and I settled into a seat at the bar with a lovely view of the street. I ordered the 8 oz filet mignon and a 4 oz lobster tail, served with a side of sautéed mushrooms. The meal was absolutely outstanding! 🦞 Though the lobster was a bit tricky to remove from the shell, it was well-seasoned and delicious — not as sweet as Nova Scotia lobster, but still tender and flavorful. I usually don’t go for filet mignon, but this one was hands-down the most tender and moist I’ve ever had. It was seasoned perfectly and cooked exactly to medium-rare, just as I asked. 🥩💖 The bartender, Eric, shared that the beef is grass-fed and sourced from within 100 miles of New Orleans — and you could really taste the quality! The mushrooms were tasty, though a little less butter would have let their natural flavor shine even more. A delightful surprise: four perfectly fried shrimp served with a savory seafood sauce — crispy, golden, and utterly addictive 🍤🔥. Eric embodied that warm, welcoming New Orleans spirit — friendly, engaging, and happy to chat when things were slow. He truly made my last night in the city feel special.
