An NYC Island With No Residents Is Hosting A Stunning Open-Fire Dinner Under The Stars

Manhattan’s not the only island in NYC! Spanning our waterways, we’ve got [City Island](https://secretnyc.co/governors-island/), [Roosevelt Island](https://secretnyc.co/roosevelt-island-manhattan-park-pool/), Randall’s Island, and of course, [Governors Island](https://secretnyc.co/governors-island/). And as we say a wistful goodbye to summer in the city, [Collective Retreats](https://secretnyc.co/collective-retreats-governors-island-camping/) is hosting a **one-night-only, exclusive dinner** on Governors Island to usher in autumn. **Hearth & Harvest** will take place on **Wednesday, September 17th** for its long-awaited return following last year’s incredible event. The open-fire dinner is helmed by Chef Tomer Blechman of Theodora, one of Brooklyn’s hardest reservations. With only 70 spots available, each guest is invited to open their senses and welcome a new community. Although Governors Island is home to other businesses and attractions, like [Island Oyster](https://secretnyc.co/island-oyster-governors-island-nyc/), [QC NY Spa](https://secretnyc.co/qc-ny-wellness-spa-governors-island-nyc/) and the Castle Williams and Fort Jay, there are absolutely no permanent residents on the island. Heart & Hearth offers **a rare opportunity for people to get a peek at Governors Island after dark**, typically only available to overnight [glamping](https://secretnyc.co/best-glamping-near-nyc/) guests at Collective Retreats. The property boasts some of the most scenic views of the New York Harbor and [Lady Liberty](https://secretnyc.co/the-statue-of-liberty-once-guided-ships-as-americas-first-electric-lighthouse/), and is **only an eight minute journey from Lower Manhattan via ferry**. To welcome autumn, the menu will be rooted in smoke and seasonality. Chef Blechman will prepare fish, tomahawk steaks, and charred vegetables, served off open-flames and carved table-side. Craft cocktails from Yola Mezcal will pair perfectly with the evening’s courses. If staying for dinner doesn’t sound like enough, **guests can opt to extend their stay** by booking a tent, cabin or suite as part of the “Hearth & Haven” package. Those who chose to stay overnight will get to keep the festivities going with post-dinner fireside s’mores, espresso martinis, stargazing, and a complimentary breakfast and [yoga](https://secretnyc.co/best-yoga-in-nyc/) the next morning.
