An Unforgettable Historical Restaurant
The Mátyás Restaurant is an unforgettable historical restaurant located within the Liliálföld scenic area. Its uniqueness lies not only in its offering of purely Hungarian dishes but also in its strong patriotic atmosphere. The restaurant was built between 1925 and 1929, following the Treaty of Trianon, which dismembered Hungary.😻😻😻 To remember the past and the national humiliation, the restaurant features nine colorful stained-glass windows that depict nine cities that once belonged to Hungary but are now part of Slovakia and Romania. From left to right, as seen from the front desk, these cities are: Bratislava (now in Slovakia), Brasov (now in Romania), Košice (now in Slovakia), Levoča (now in Slovakia), Bardejov (now in Slovakia), Kežmarok (now in Slovakia), Cluj-Napoca (now in Romania), Orava (now in Slovakia), and Vajdahunyad (now in Romania). These are the current names of the cities, while the Hungarian names inscribed on the stained-glass windows are: "Pozsony, Brassó, Kassa, Lőcse, Bártfa, Késmárk, Kolozsvár, Árva, Vajdahunyad."😀😀😀 These nine stained-glass windows have become the hallmark of this luxurious restaurant, and their influence is profound. Many schools organize visits here for patriotic education.😍😍😍 When Hungarians dine under the luxurious stained-glass windows, looking at the cities that no longer belong to them, what must they feel? Can they ever forget this century-old restaurant? #Slovakia #Europe #NationalDayTravel
