Anna Siam Square-Specializing in innovative Thai cuisine

Siam Square | Ann Arbor’s Go-To Thai Spot – Familiar, Homey, & Totally Satisfying! I’ve been on a hunt (obsessed search) for good Thai/Southeast Asian food in Michigan—then I remembered Siam Square! I used to order their takeout all the time, but this was my first time dining in. The flavors were just as I remembered: homey, tasty, and comforting. There’s only one tiny catch—some curries have fruit added, which tasted weird to me. But overall? It’s a solid pick for Thai food 🇹🇭! 🥢 Apps: Golden Shrimp & Mango Sticky Rice Steal the Show Golden Shrimp (Photo 1): My all-time favorite! The shell is super crispy and thin, and the shrimp inside is plump and juicy—every bite is crunchy, savory, and so satisfying. I could eat a whole plate of these alone. Mango Sticky Rice: The coconut sauce is on point—salty-sweet, not cloying at all. The only letdown? The mango itself was just “okay”—not as sweet or fragrant as I hoped. But the sticky rice + coconut sauce combo still makes it worth ordering. 🍜 Soups & Stir-Fries: Tangy, Savory, & Packed with Flavor Tom Yum Soup: You can add protein— I went with seafood + beef, and it was so fresh! The soup has that perfect tangy kick that wakes up your taste buds—super appetizing. No bitter herb aftertaste, just bright, bold flavor. Spicy Stir-Fried Crab: Highly recommended! The crab is coated in a light batter, fried crispy, then tossed in a sweet-savory sauce with baby corn (I was shocked to see baby corn in the US! 😲) and bell peppers. The sauce is just the right balance of spicy and sweet—so addictive. Beef Noodle Soup: Loaded with tender beef chunks (so much meat!), but the broth is on the sweet side—tastes like it has sweet bean sauce. It’s delicious at first, but gets a little greasy and cloying by the end. Great if you love sweet-savory broths, though. 🦪 Seafood & Curries: Hits (and One Confusing Miss) Steamed Mussels: The mussels are huge and plump—no tiny, rubbery ones here! The sauce is spicy with a hint of sweetness—perfect for sopping up with rice. So flavorful, I wanted more even after I was full. Duck Curry (Last Photo): Not my cup of tea. The duck had a faint gamey smell, and the curry sauce tasted… confusing. It had grapes, pineapple, and sour bamboo shoots (the waiter said it’s an authentic Thai recipe!). I get the idea of sweet-savory, but the fruit + duck combo just didn’t work for me. Your call if you’re feeling adventurous! 🧋 Drinks: Bubble Tea Bear Is Too Fun to Skip Their Thai Milk Tea with a Bubble Tea Bear is a must-try! They bring out a little bear figurine and a pot of tea—you pour the tea over the bear yourself (so fun to watch! 🐻). It’s a bit sweet, but that’s easy to adjust—plus, it’s delicious and adds a playful touch to the meal. 💰 Final Verdict Such great value—around $30 per person, and we were so full we had to take leftovers home! It’s my go-to for Thai food in Ann Arbor now—familiar, tasty, and consistent. Even with the confusing duck curry, I’ll definitely be back for the golden shrimp, Tom Yum soup, and bubble tea bear. #UniversityOfMichiganAnnArbor #AnnArbor #AnnArborFood #AnnArborEats #SoutheastAsianFood #ThaiFood #Michigan #AnnArborBubbleTea #MichiganFood #MichiganEats #MichiganLife #MichiganSurroundings #AnnArborLife #AnnArborRestaurants
