Antwerp, Belgium π Zoo Planchendael π
Mechelen Zoo Planchendael is much larger than Antwerp Zoo, but it doesn't have as many animal species as Antwerp Zoo. Due to its vast area, the entire park is designed very reasonably, allowing for close-up views of most animals. The zoo is mainly divided by continents, and each continent has different elements and architecture that match, which is quite clever. The animals have a huge space to move around, and they seem very content. There is an area with long-tailed black monkeys that are in an entirely open space, jumping from branch to branch above your head, which is super cute. The zookeeper is also quite enthusiastic and pointed them out to us specifically. My mother-in-law asked him, "Won't the monkeys run away?" He said that the entire area is designed with a moat surrounding it, and these monkeys are afraid of water, so they won't run out. That's brilliant! πππ πFrom Antwerp Central Station to Mechelen for β¬4.9 one way, 20 minutes, with a train every 10-15 minutes. π πThere is a shuttle bus outside the station for β¬5, members β¬2.5; today the shuttle bus was not running, but you can also take bus number 284 from platform 14 at the train station. Since it belongs to the Flemish region, it's still de Lijn, β¬1.7 (because I bought 10 tickets at once, you just need to activate them on the mobile app). πποΈ π«Entrance fee is β¬34.5, and with an Antwerp Zoo annual pass (β¬99), you can enter for free. ποΈπ³ #Antwerp #OneDayInAntwerp #AntwerpZoo #AnimalsInTheZoo
