Antwerp | The Variety of Vietnamese Cuisine Surpassed My Expectations

🍽️ Thuy Hanoi 💃🏻 Before trying this place, my knowledge of Vietnamese cuisine was limited to pho and banh mi… maybe adding spring rolls, but this restaurant made me realize my narrow view. The richness of Vietnamese cuisine is not inferior to Thai food! I just wish I weren’t a occasional visitor to Antwerp so I could work my way through the entire menu. 🍹 Ginger Ice Tea for 4.5💶 a cup, slightly sweet with no strong ginger spiciness, quite refreshing but the taste is a bit weak. It’s not the best value for money, so I wouldn’t recommend it. 🥭 nom xoai Green Mango Salad for 14.5💶, the green mango is a bit sour, a bit sweet, and not at all bitter! The texture is a nice mix of crisp and soft. The salad dressing is not as fiery as Thai style, with a just-right mix of sweet, sour, and spicy, making it super refreshing and not greasy. Mint and perilla dominate the side dishes, and magically, when paired with the salad dressing, the flavor is not overpowering. It’s moreish. 🍤 A bit scarce, two shrimp cut in half, but the meat is quite good. 🍖 Suon rang Braised Spareribs for 22.5💶, as a person from Jiangsu and Zhejiang, I have to say this might be one of the best spareribs I’ve had in Europe 🥺 Although it’s a sweet and savory dish, it’s not as rich and oily as red braised. The outer layer of the ribs is crispy, probably flash-fried, with tight and bouncy meat, flavorful without being greasy. 🍗 VIT XAO CAY Ginger Duck for 22.5💶, it’s like crispy duck + stir-fry, a salty and slightly spicy dish that’s straightforward. The crispy skin of the duck is amazing, with a crunch that’s not too hard. The part soaked in sauce has a texture between crisp and soft, maybe like a quick-fried crispy meat, not at all fatty.
