Anuradhapura, the Western Ancient City of Sri Lanka

🛕 Anuradhapura is home to eight Buddhist sacred sites, where countless ordinary Sri Lankans live.✨ ⭐ 1. The most famous attraction in the city is the Bodhi Tree, with a history of over 2,600 years. It is Sri Lanka's national treasure second only to the Tooth Relic. 💖 The ancient city of Anuradhapura developed around this Bodhi Tree and became a prosperous political and religious capital.🏘️ ⭐ 2. There are three museums in the ancient city of Anuradhapura: the Archaeological Museum, the Folk Museum, and the Stupa Museum.✨ ✨ The Stupa Museum mainly collects unearthed Buddha statues, pottery, inscriptions, ivory carvings, and royal jewelry.🌥️ ✨ The Archaeological Museum exhibits Buddha statues, coins, 🏵️ ✨ The Folk Museum mainly displays folk cultural relics, generally farm tools and daily necessities.✊ ⭐ 3. The Ruwanwelisaya Stupa is one of the tallest stupas in the world. Now it stands 107 meters high with a diameter of 96 meters.✨ The stupa, with a bubble-like shape, stands on a 3-layer platform and is located north of the Bodhi Tree.🎉🎉 ⭐ 4. Unlike the Ruwanwelisaya Stupa, the outer wall of the Thuparamaya Stupa is not painted white but retains its most original style.🙊 ⭐ 5. Although the Dambulla Stupa is small in scale, it is the first stupa built in Sri Lanka.🌻 ⭐ 6. The Brazen Palace was built by King Dutugemunu, near the Sacred Bodhi Tree. Originally a 7-story building, it was 45 meters in length, width, and height, with 900 rooms for monks to live in. 😊 Rebuilt in the 12th century, it had a large copper dome supported by 1,600 stone pillars arranged in 40 concentric circles, hence the name Brazen Palace. Now only the stone pillars remain at the site.🍵🍵 ⭐ 7. Abhayagiri Vihara has the deepest connection with China. 💓 Sri Lanka is a famous Theravada Buddhist country, but historically, Abhayagiri Vihara was a renowned Mahayana Buddhist temple at that time.🙊 ⭐ 8. The Jetavanarama Stupa was built by King Mahasena, located in the southeast of the ancient city, with a height of 122 meters. 🌳 When completed in ancient times, it was the tallest building except for the Egyptian pyramids. The temple where the original stupa was located covers an area of about 80 acres, and the entire building is very large.🌅 🎫 Ticket for the Western Ancient City: $25 for adults, $12.5 for children☀️ ⭐ Travel Tips: ✨ In many places in the ancient city area, such as stupas and the Bodhi Tree, you need to take off your shoes to visit, and the ground has a lot of sand and gravel. 🌸🌸 It is more convenient to prepare sandals and cotton socks. ✨ The ruins are relatively open. Try to visit in the morning or evening. ☺️☺️ The weather is dry and sunny, so you need to take sun protection measures.😛 ✨ Catering is mainly concentrated in the new city, but there are not many choices.🎈 If you need to eat inside the scenic area, you can choose simple foods such as naan and milk tea.😦 It is recommended to buy some food in the new city's supermarket. Prepare drinking water.🍸🍸 #SriLanka#Travel#Tourism#SriLankaTravel
