Around Boston | Watching Waves Brush Past June Roses in Ogunquit
June in Boston rarely sees clear skies, so when the rain finally stops and the sun comes out, it’s the perfect excuse to head to the coast. The tiny town of Ogunquit, Maine, is only about a 1.5-hour drive from Boston—close enough for a spontaneous day trip, but far enough to feel like a little escape.🤞🤞 What I loved most was the Marginal Way Trail—a scenic path that feels like a postcard come to life. On one side, the Atlantic Ocean crashes against the rocky shore, sending up sprays of foam and filling the air with the fresh smell of saltwater 🌊. On the other side, vibrant flowers bloom in abundance—especially the roses! Climbing up stone walls and tangled with green vines, these blooms add pops of color everywhere you look.😂😂 Many of the ocean-view hotels along the trail have beautiful porches and white picket fences, and by summer, every inch of these spaces is covered in soft pink roses 🌹. Pull up a bench in front of one of these hotels, and you’ll have a front-row seat to both the blooming roses and the endless sea—seriously, every angle is a photo opportunity. Whether you’re taking snapshots with friends or just soaking in the view, it’s impossible not to feel relaxed here.😬😬 When you reach the end of the Marginal Way Trail, you’ll wind up at Perkins Cove—a charming little harbor with all the New England charm you could want. Grab a buttery lobster roll from a local shack or a scoop of creamy ice cream to cool down 🍦. The streets here are lined with cozy galleries (filled with coastal paintings and local art) and boutique shops selling handmade crafts—perfect for picking up a small souvenir to remember the day. Wander around, listen to the sound of boats bobbing in the water, and take your time—this is the kind of place that’s meant to be explored slowly. #FujifilmStraightOut #BostonSurroundings #BostonLife #Maine #BostonTravel
