Austin Totally Worth It – A Must-Try Texas BBQ Experience! 🍖
We spent our anniversary long weekend exploring Austin and San Antonio. Despite the blazing heat, strolling around the cities, enjoying great food, and having a couple of drinks made for such a relaxing time! I’ll be slowly sharing our travel and food guides – stay tuned! 😊 🔥 Of course, our first meal in Texas had to be BBQ! Texas-style barbecue is a must-try, and Austin is packed with amazing spots. This time, we picked a highly-rated place with shorter lines – and it was absolutely worth it. Life-changing stuff! 📍 Terry Black's Barbecue 💰 Around $35 per person – we left beyond stuffed. Eating meat by the pound has never been this satisfying (or filling!) 📌 Pro tip: Go right when they open! The line moves fast, but mornings mean shorter waits and the full selection of meats. Some cuts sell out later in the day. 🌟 The whole place screams Texas – wooden structure, smoke billowing from the pit, and the irresistible smell of smoked meat hits you even before you walk in. 🌟 You line up, choose your sides and desserts first, then head to the meat counter. The servers slice everything right in front of you, weigh it, and load up your tray. ❤️ Pork Ribs – A must-order! Fall-off-the-bone tender with a bold black pepper flavor. ❤️ Brisket – Super tender and smoky. A bit salty, but the smoke flavor is incredible. ❤️ Jalapeño & Cheese Sausage – Juicy, slightly spicy, with cheesy goodness. Bursts with flavor! ❤️ Chopped Beef – Shredded, slow-cooked beef, slightly sweet and savory. Perfect with bread. ❤️ Turkey – Moist and smoky, but not as memorable as the beef and pork. ❤️ Sides & Desserts – The creamed corn and green beans were great balances to the meat. The peach cobbler was a bit too sweet for me. 🍻 And don’t forget – pair everything with a local Texas beer! Nothing beats meat and beer. 💥 In summary: This was hands-down the best American BBQ I’ve ever had. I used to think, “How good can grilled meat really be?” – but now I’m a believer. Absolutely life-affirming. You have to try this! 🔥 Here are a few other highly recommended BBQ spots in Austin we didn’t get to (next time!): 📍 Franklin Barbecue 📍 Stubb’s Bar-B-Q 📍 The Salt Lick BBQ #Austin #AustinFood #TexasBBQ #AustinTX
