Austin Food | An Amazing Fusion of Japanese Izakaya & Texas BBQ

While planning my Texas trip, I instantly got hooked by this one-of-a-kind fusion concept: Texas BBQ meets Japanese Izakaya ✨. I made a reservation right away — and oh my, the combination is absolutely mind-blowing! Totally worth the hype. 📍 Kemuri Tatsu-Ya 💰 Around $35 per person 📌 Very popular — definitely book in advance! 🌟 The vibe is a cool mix of cozy Japanese pub with a touch of Texas wildness. Wooden structure, anime posters covering the walls, and an open kitchen that feels both spacious and inviting. 🌟 The menu is where the magic happens: Izakaya-style dishes deeply influenced by Texan flavors. Everything feels unique, something you won’t find anywhere else — and yet it still totally appeals to the Asian palate ❤️ 🧡 Hot Pocketz Tofu pouches stuffed with Texas-style smoked brisket and melted cheese — one bite and you’re in heaven 😋 🧡 Jellyfish Menudo Salad Never thought I’d have jellyfish in Texas! It’s like a classic Chinese jellyfish salad but with a Japanese sweet-sour twist. Refreshing and complex 🥗 🧡 Skewers Classic Izakaya skewers—but smoked over Texas charcoal for that extra flavor kick! 🍢 Chicken in the Nest: Chicken skewers dipped in egg yolk and crispy chicken skin — so crunchy and satisfying 🍢 Hotate: Tender scallop skewers with creamy corn sauce — sweet and luxurious 🍢 Beefy Shrooms: Ribeye and mushrooms grilled together and served with pumpkin purée — juicy and umami-packed 🧡 Smoked Brisket Yes, they serve real-deal Texas BBQ too! We tried their famous brisket — tender and smoky like classic Texas style, but topped with a Japanese sesame miso glaze. An unforgettable twist 🥩 💥 Overall, this place is truly special. It’s probably the only spot in the U.S. where Izakaya and Texas BBQ collide — and the chefs here make it work beautifully. Highly recommend!
