Bad Bunny Once Brought 80 People To This Bay Area Puerto Rican Restaurant — Here’s What He Ordered
Bad Bunny returns to the Bay Area this weekend for the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show, and we can’t be the only ones wondering what he’ll get up to while he’s here. Local fans are left reminiscing about his past performances at the Oakland Coliseum in 2022 and Chase Center in 2024 ... and where he went during his free time. Here’s a look back at his 2022 visit to Sol Food in San Rafael. ‘We have 80 Puerto Ricans’ -------------------------- The story goes that Bad Bunny’s team called up Sol Food’s San Rafael location a few days before his Oakland show, simply saying, “We have 80 Puerto Ricans.” Shortly after, a convoy of black SUVs rolled up with a mysterious guest dressed in head-to-toe Louis Vuitton. Sol Food’s staff quickly realized that they were serving none other than Bad Bunny himself, and the singer even posed with them for a selfie. Sol Food owner Sol Hernandez told *SFGATE* that Bad Bunny ordered the mofongo relleno de camarones , a saucy prawn dish served with mashed green plantain, salad, and avocado. Four years after Bad Bunny’s visit, Sol Food is still serving the singer’s choice of meal, a mouthwatering combo dish priced at $18.95 for three prawns and $32.95 for six. Mofongo and more at Sol Food ---------------------------- The popular Sol Food restaurant chain has locations in San Rafael, Mill Valley, and Petaluma, all serving flavorful and authentic Puerto Rican cuisine seven days a week from breakfast to dessert. In addition to Bad Bunny’s mofongo combo, Yelpers are also fans of the pollo al horno , which comes with tender baked chicken thighs and your choice of P.R. fries or fried plantains. The bistec sandwich is also popular, with juicy sliced steak piled on a bed of sautéed onion, lettuce, pink mayo, and fried plantains. More Bad Bunny favorites in the Bay ----------------------------------- While Sol Food had the honor of serving Bad Bunny’s entire entourage, the singer frequented more local businesses when he returned to play SF’s Chase Center in March 2024. From his Instagram stories, astute fans deduced that he ate sushi Kibatsu in the Lower Haight, burgers at The Melt on Market Street, and even played a game of pool at Family Billiards on Geary. With Super Bowl LX coming up this Sunday, February 8th, we know we won’t be the only ones hoping to cross paths with Bad Bunny at more local businesses during his stay in the Bay Area.
