Don't get me wrong, I love Laufey, and I was excited to see her as a VIP, but the experience this time around (not the first time at Chase Center) has been disastrous. I don't usually write reviews on concerts as they are typically great experiences, but this was the complete opposite of my previous concert experiences. I would give negative stars if I could.
For one, the staff there seems to be as useless as thin air, as they did not know anything about where the VIP merch line is, how many VIP merch lines there are, even as to not know where the Laufey Land Lounge is. It was only after asking almost 10 staff members that I finally found someone who was able to escort us to the lounge. There is no clear signage anywhere in the center, not for the merch line, not for the lounge, not for anything. It does not cost much to put up clear signs for lines and rooms, right? If the center can afford to hire this many security personnel or the useless staff members who seem to just stand there, do nothing, and get paid, then there is a problem withe management.
Secondly, the biggest issue I had was directed towards the VIP host as well as the merch company. The Mei Mei keychain was, after asking, supposed to be a limited edition item as well as available only in the general admission merch line outside of the center, which "supposedly" was notified in a story by Laufey, but the stories disappear after 24 hours, and this was not included in the email sent for the information on VIP, so that was really frustrating. The staff there was not helpful, and representatives from Chase Center continuously pushed their "corporate" tone and "resolution", which was to try to drive us away with some food and beverage coupons instead of actually directly addressing our concern. Circling back to the VIP host, she was ignorant of my concern, trying to push me back and keep repeating "they are sold out, that's it" in a way that seems to be condescending, and she had the audacity to push us out of the lounge when we were trying to finish up with our Photo Booth and signing the Guestbook. I have never seen anyone have such terrible customer service skills, and dare she says to be the tour VIP host representing Laufey. Shame on her.
Because of the time that was taken trying to reach representatives (where a few times they left me without any updates or verbal notices, which again is utter failure and negligence) and trying to discuss this matter, by the time we were able to get through to the lounge (which again, even inside the lounge there is no one there to welcome us or to direct us to any activities inside the lounge), the drinks were already gone. I would have thought that they venue knew exactly how many Laufey Land Experience VIP tickets were sold, and yet they cannot ensure every single guest has at least one drink? What kind of money-saving strategy is this?
What exactly did we pay almost $500 per ticket for? Disastrous customer service and experience, ignorant and demeaning "VIP host", not being able to experience the complete lounge package because the place cannot even have enough drinks for everyone, and the audacity to shoo us off with some food and drink coupons (no refunds or we have to leave, really? Director of Customer Experience, more like Director of Keeping Profits). I have never ever seen a venue be this badly organized and useless in customer service and response, and the other reviews here are the lucky ones who have not yet experienced this deliberate act of taking our money and not giving the experience that we were promised.
The show was good, but the mood was ruined already. I will never come back to Chase Center, and they really should be ashamed of themselves for putting on a crappy show of mismanagement. Go back to doing sports games, and stay out of concerts. They really do not know how...

Read moreThis is a state of the art, impeccably designed, high quality sports arena and concert hall. The production values for Dead & Company New Years Eve are the best I have seen and heard in any indoor California venue. Every single seat is a good seat and I made my way all around to be sure on both nights. The sound is so much an improvement over Oakland Coliseum, LA Forum, and old Sports Arenas nation wide! The production values are unsurpassed. The versatile grid theater arrangement enables the best sight lines possible for an arena of this size. It is a masterpiece in sound and lighting production values, crowd flow and control, and overall aesthetic design and visual appeal. A positive experience, for sure. San Francisco can be proud of the artistic merit of this beautiful complex and surrounding plaza. A superior job well done!
I could stop right there, but below is my criticism of the business model.
I take a star away on the basis of Ticketmaster's failure to provide reliable service. The failures of their buggy apps, polymorphic policy, and clueless staff failed to manage paperless tickets effectively. You don't get a ticket stub, so if you don't have a NEW phone with a reliable 4 hour power supply - for each ticket holder - then you won't remember the portal, section, row, and seat - unless you memorize the stub you never lost. Stubs actually work. It shows the seat, fits any pocket, is always on.
When things mess up, Ticketmaster has no effective solutions for the customer. After wasting time, they just befuddle and stall until they let you in without a verified seat assigned. TM technology is made for TM extortion tactics, to create price propaganda, scalp tickets arbitrarily, and to deceive and manipulate buyers. Its a rip off and needs to be regulated. Make no mistake, this technology could improve the customer experience, but instead it has been weaponized by a mobster monopoly.
My other concern: very few of the vendors on the pavilions accept cash. In order to use a bank card, the Chase data miners insist that you first fill out an electronic form at the terminal, while we all wait. This way they profile you, pull a Wells Fargo maneuver, and now you've opened an unwanted "user profile" account ledger. Be ready to Chase your wallet.
The Chase Center & Warrior's Arena is an amazing new venue that improves indoor public assembly in the greater bay area! Like Giant's Stadium, It is a beautiful monument to all that heart in...
