Bamboo Garden Roast Duck|A Note from the San Antonio Branch 🦆
Great news for everyone! San Antonio’s Chinese food scene is finally stepping up its game 😍. The long-awaited Bamboo Garden Roast Duck has opened a branch here — no more driving all the way to Austin for fresh, piping-hot roast duck. I’m absolutely thrilled! The front part of the kitchen is open, so as soon as you walk in, you can see ducks sizzling and rotating over an open flame 🍖🔥, plus chefs hand-making dumplings and buns right before your eyes. Talk about an appetite booster! ▫️ The star roast duck did not disappoint — crispy skin, tender meat, wrapped with cucumber and scallions in a soft pancake. That first bite is pure joy 🤤. Bamboo Garden is still my No.1 roast duck in Texas. ▫️ A few delicious surprises: Passion fruit cucumber salad — SO refreshing! Sweet, tangy, made with crunchy mini cucumbers, and the passion fruit aroma lingers… I was still savoring the flavor on my way home 🥒💛. A side dish you’ll dream about. Crab roe soup dumplings — bigger than expected, dipped in vinegar they’re deliciously savory. Thumb-sized pan-fried buns (filled with chives, shrimp, and pork) — tasty, though I’m not big on chives. Good to share since portions are generous! ▫️ Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles — not what I expected, but more like a Wuhan-style hot dry noodle remake. As an honorary Hubei person, this brought back hometown memories 🍜❤️. Peanut-sesame sauce coated every strand, with just the right kick of chili — sticky, messy, and oh-so-satisfying. ▫️ Nice touch: The water served is infused with lemon 🍋 — a small but thoughtful detail. 🅿️ Parking is easy — plenty of space in the lot. No outdoor seating yet, but imagine how perfect it’d be in the fall with some skewers under the open sky… 🍢🌤️ 📍 Duck & Dumpling 3003 Thousand Oaks Dr, San Antonio, TX 78247 (It might not show up on maps yet — it’s in the old Taco Cabana location. Just head to the address!) #SanAntonio #BambooGardenRoastDuck #SanAntonioChineseFood
