Beginner's trekking in Nepal 🏔️

I hadn’t walked much lately, so I just wandered around casually—more like a light hike to experience the joy of the wilderness.🎁 🌻I set off in the morning and walked less than 10 kilometers, with mountain paths and scattered villages along the way. The sky was clear blue, sunlight spilled over the hillsides, and the air was slightly cool. There were very few tourists; the only sound along the road was the rustle of wind through leaves and branches, so quiet it was almost eerie.🎆🎆 🎊Climbing up the mountain was a bit tiring, with some steep sections. But when I reached an open area, the view suddenly opened up—the snow-capped mountains were right in front of me. On a clear day, you could see far into the distance.🌽 🚕 Transportation & Bargaining Tips - Going up the mountain: Took a taxi via inDrive for 500 Nepalese rupees, which was relatively reliable.🌻🌻 - Going down the mountain: The normal price is 2,000-3,000 Nepalese rupees. It’s better to book a car in advance instead of looking for one on the spot.🎃 ⚠️ A Little Incident: Almost Got Ripped Off by a "Courier Van"🍚 At first, I flagged down a courier van. After getting in, the driver directly quoted 5,000 Nepalese rupees. 😊 I bargained it down to 3,000, thinking that was okay, but the van was incredibly bumpy—the shock absorbers were so bad it made me doubt life.👣 In the end, I gave 100 rupees and got off, continuing on foot. Bargaining is important here, but you also need to check the condition of the vehicle, otherwise you’ll just be paying to suffer.🎊🎊 🏘️Later, I met a Nepali guy who gave me a ride downhill. He was really nice—after I got in, he even comforted me, saying “don’t be scared.” He was easygoing the whole way, and when we arrived, he refused to take the money I tried to push on him, just smiled and waved before driving off. ⛰️ Compared to the earlier experience, this kindness was really memorable.🏘️ 📱 Translation App Issues I was careless this time—I only downloaded the English translation pack, not the Chinese one. As a result, there was no signal in the mountains, and iPhone’s built-in translator completely stopped working, failing to recognize what was being said. It was awkward for a moment.🌳 🍏Google Translate is more reliable; remember to download offline Chinese and Nepali packs in advance, otherwise you’ll have to communicate entirely with hand gestures. 🏡 Accommodation & Sunrise It’s recommended to stay overnight to watch the sunrise. The owner of a Chinese restaurant in Thamel recommended The Fort Resort and Hotel View Point, but you need to call in advance to confirm if the specific room has a view of the sunrise—views from new and old buildings may differ.🍟 📌 Sunrise Time: Check a weather app in advance. It’s usually between 5:30-6:30, with specific times varying by season.🚗 💰 Money Exchange & Cash Tips Nagarkot mostly uses cash, so it’s best to exchange money in advance at a Chinese restaurant. Bringing 10,000-20,000 Nepalese rupees is enough, mainly for meals and taxi rides. You can exchange more later if needed.😍 📝 Kindness on the Journey Though this hike wasn’t very long, climbing up the mountain was still a bit tiring.🎆 🌻🌻The snow-capped mountains were close by, and the scenery was beautiful, but what stuck with me more were the unplanned incidents and unexpected kindnesses along the way.😘😘 #Nepal#NepalTravel#NepalTrekking
