Berkeley Summer Program: Food, Fun, and Travel Recommendations 🌭✨
My last post about applying for the summer program suddenly went viral (Zhou Xun’s surprised face lol), so here’s another one sharing some of the most memorable food spots and activities! 🍔 Eats: Super Duper Burgers near campus – a must-try! Their garlic fries are incredibly delicious 😋 Super oily and packed with garlic flavor. Compared to the California classic In-N-Out, which is just okay (pretty standard burger and fries vibe). Try to avoid eating at school cafeterias, and DON’T load too much money onto your campus card 💳! Last summer, many students couldn’t get their leftover balances refunded and had to sadly splurge at supermarkets or souvenir stores. If you prefer cooking, head to Trader Joe’s or Target for ingredients 🛒 (Trader Joe’s has lots of yummy snacks too!). 🛍️ Shopping: Visit outlets for great deals on U.S. brands like Coach, MK, Levi’s, etc. They’re cheaper than in China, but keep in mind that California has relatively high taxes, and shopping purchases aren’t tax-refundable 💸. Sephora is also worth checking out – Selena Gomez’s makeup brand Rare Beauty isn’t available in China. I tried their lip gloss and lipstick – amazing texture and colors 💄 (their blushes are super popular too!). 🌉 Travel: Nearby spots: San Francisco and Sausalito – easily reachable by bus. A bit farther: Santa Clara, Sacramento, San Jose – all accessible by train 🚆 (with beautiful views along the way!). Further out: Los Angeles – a 1-hour flight away. If you really don’t want to miss New York 🗽, you can fly there too – but it’s quite far, so plan for at least 4-5 days! #FoodAndFun #WeekendPlans #SanFrancisco #BayArea #Foodie #Berkeley #Burgers
