Berlin Delights | Sunday Brunch to Cure the Blues

Das Gretel has indeed made a name for itself in the Berlin brunch scene. Though the space is cozy, the decor is charmingly vintage, with each piece of decorative oil painting and interior design fitting perfectly. Reservations are a must, and it's best to book a week in advance to secure your favorite spot. We had our reservation for 2 PM, but by 2:30 PM, the waiter was urging us to order quickly, or the kitchen would close, so it's best to aim for a brunch before 2 PM 😅😅. 🥗 Everyone ended up choosing the Benedict set, a classic choice, with the addition of mushrooms and beef. Highly recommend the combination of mushrooms and beef; it's incredibly satisfying. The poached egg with the fried potato cake is simply divine (though personally, I prefer poached eggs with crispy buttered bread 😋😋). The butter-fried pleurotus eryngii and shiitake mushrooms were also a hit. The egg sauce was rich and creamy, which might get a bit heavy towards the end. My friend thought it was great, being a sweet tooth. Finishing with a glass of juice to cut through the richness was indeed a good choice. ☕️ Personally, I found the coffee to be just average, not as renowned as their food.
