Berlin Diary: How Can Chaomin Be This Delicious?

After getting used to the hearty and meaty Chinese food in Berlin, 🍖 I took a one-hour subway ride from the west side just to try Chaomin. It was absolutely worth the trip! I loved it so much that I had to write a post on Xiaohongshu to praise the food at Chaomin. ✍️ 🫕 Main Courses - Congees: We ordered two types of porridge: 1⃣️ 31 Chao ‘Bo’ Beef (Beef Porridge) 2⃣️ 33 Chao ‘Tom’ Prawns (Prawn Porridge) The bowls look small, but the portions are surprisingly generous. 🥣 The beef porridge, highly recommended by everyone, tasted incredibly fresh with a touch of soy sauce. The highlight was the prawn porridge. The three large prawns were fried and seasoned in advance, and there were bits of prawn mince in the porridge. Eating it with Kräuter made it very refreshing. We also added squid, salted duck egg, and fried dough sticks, which made the meal incredibly satisfying.🥰 🫕 Side Dishes - TAPAS 'N STARTERS: 1⃣️ 9 FRIED TOFU The fried tofu has the usual texture, but when paired with the Vietnamese-style sweet peanut sauce, it's incredibly addictive—one piece after another! 🍲 2⃣️ 16 SQUID ON FIRE This stir-fried squid is a must-order! It looks ordinary, but the sauce is a mix of barbecue flavor with a hint of sweetness, reminiscent of the squid tentacles I used to beg my mom to buy from street stalls after finishing cram school as a kid. The small squid is also very fresh, chewy yet easy to bite through. 🦑 🧃 Drinks - Getränke: 1⃣️ Green Hunter (Matcha Banana Mint Milkshake) The actual color wasn't as green as in the picture, maybe because the matcha powder wasn't enough. But the taste was very pleasant, not greasy at all, and exactly what I'd want to drink in the summer. 🍵 2⃣️ Golden Butterfly (Tropical Fruit Special) This drink lives up to its name with its gradient golden color and high looks. It tastes sweet and sour, and it's perfect to enjoy with a plate of squid. Who says non-drinkers can't enjoy summer? 🌴 *Note: The salted duck egg and fried dough sticks need to be ordered separately. Choose d) Weizenstange and j) Gesalzenes Ei from the Extra Toppings section. Every dish was incredibly delicious, making me exclaim, "If I were sick, this meal would cure me instantly!" I hope everyone visiting the east side of Berlin doesn't miss this place.🥰 Restaurant Name: Chaomin - Congee Restaurant 💰 Average Cost: 30.5€ (for two people) #RestaurantRecommendation #Berlin #GermanStudentLife #BerlinLife #BerlinDaily #VietnameseCuisine #BerlinDiary
