Berlin Flea Market Guide
Having lived in Berlin for four years, my go-to weekend activity with friends is flea markets. Here’s my curated "hit and miss" list, ranked by stars ⭐! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fehrberliner Platz One of West Berlin locals’ favorite flea markets—and my absolute top pick! It’s right next to the subway station. On sunny Sundays, after browsing the market, grabbing a crisp beer at the nearby biergarten or heading to Thaipark for Asian snacks (in summer) is pure comfort 🍻. I’m obsessed with the jewelry here—I always find delicate, well-designed little pieces every time! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Boxhagen Platz My favorite in East Berlin! It’s on a square, a 10-minute walk from Warschauer Straße subway station—you’ll pass lots of hippies along the way. If you walk there, you’ll also go by the RAW flea market (which I think is just so-so: too big, with low-quality goods). Boxhagen is perfect for winter—there are restaurants and cafés everywhere nearby, and their prices and taste are way better than West Berlin’s 🍜! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Karlshorst Not held weekly—usually once a month. It’s super far east in Berlin, a huge market with everything you can imagine (and more!). To keep visitors from going hungry, there are all kinds of snacks too 🌭. The only downside: some stalls are in a forest—if it’s windy or crowded, it gets really dusty 😷. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mauerpark One of the most touristy flea markets, near the Berlin Wall. I gave it an extra star for the cheesecake at the exit—huge slices for under €4! There are tons of flavors; my faves are rum-raisin and orange 🍰. The vibe is great in summer, and there are occasional live band performances 🎶. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Maybachufer A riverside flea market in Neukölln (East Berlin) with a more hippie vibe. If you sift through carefully, you’ll still find nice surprises. It’s perfect for summer: after browsing, grab a beer from a Späti (late-night convenience store) and chill with friends on the riverbank lawn until dark 🍻. ⭐️⭐️ Tiergarten Lots of antiques—great for anyone into stamps, old coins, or vintage furniture. It’s on Straße des 17. Juni (a street leading straight to the Brandenburg Gate, also called the "Parade Street"). Pretty touristy, though 🛋️. ⭐️⭐️ Museumsinsel By the water near Museum Island, it mainly sells art and Berlin souvenirs. Also very touristy—not really recommended 🎁. Of course, Berlin has way more flea markets than these, and everyone’s ranking might be totally different from mine—it’s such a personal thing! Browsing flea markets isn’t just a pastime; it’s gradually become a way of life here. When you go looking for something specific, you often find nothing. But when you go with a "whatever" attitude, you always get unexpected surprises ✨! #BerlinLife #BerlinWeekend #BerlinTravelGuide #BerlinFleaMarkets
