Berlin Neues Museum | A Stroll Through Berlin's Cityscape 🏰
The Neues Museum, one of the five museums on Berlin's Museum Island, is an excellent place to explore ancient Egyptian artifacts. In addition to its remarkable collections, the building's conservation and restoration philosophy is worth a visit in itself. 🏛️ The walls retain many traces of war damage, and new elements have been added with great caution. Architect David Chipperfield mentioned his restoration philosophy, saying, "There is a dangerous situation where new architecture, when placed next to old architecture, can overshadow and shame the old, leaving it forgotten in a corner. On the contrary, we should embrace the old buildings, learn from them, and borrow their qualities." 🏗️ It seems that every detail, from the choice of building materials and floor tiles to the design concept, tells a story. The juxtaposition of old and new creates a dialogue and a sense of continuity between history and the present. 🕰️ Additionally, the exhibition layout and the audio tour at the Neues Museum are exceptional (and free!). Be sure to pick one up. The staff in the exhibition halls are also very attentive. If they see visitors not listening to the correct exhibits, they will approach to guide and explain, making for a truly great museum experience. 🎧 #Berlin #NeuesMuseum #MuseumIsland #MustVisitMuseum
