📍 San Matteo Pizzeria e Cucina 📍 My personal favorite Italian restaurant on the Upper East Side is San Matteo Pizzeria e Cucina. This two-floored spot offers wood-fired pizzas, pastas, and burgers. They have a number of pasta options, and I tried the Fettuccine Alfredo with black truffle (market price). It is a decadent dish that combines creamy cheese sauce, tender pasta, and black truffle shaved table-side. The black truffle adds a rich and earthy flavor that elevates the simple Alfredo sauce to a new level of sophistication 9/10. As for the pizza, I enjoyed a classic Margherita $19. The crust is thin, crispy, and smoky, and the toppings are generous and flavorful 9/10. San Matteo is always offering specials, and they had an A5 Wagyu pizza when I visited ($40). It had potato and sun-dried peppers and was a unique way to eat A5 Wagyu 8/10. The service is friendly and attentive, and there is ample seating.
