Big Island Family Trip 🌺 Snorkeling + Waterfall + Lava Cave

🌟 Captain Cook Snorkeling I love snorkeling so much! 🐠 This time, we chose Fair Wind, which comes highly recommended. The big double-decker boat was super stable, and it even had two water slides to plunge straight into the ocean—so thrilling yet safe! The kids were over the moon. 😆💦 The biggest surprise? The all-vegetarian breakfast and lunch were actually delicious! 🥗🍉 I was worried I wouldn’t like it, so I brought musubi rice balls, but they stayed untouched. 😅 The waters at Captain Cook are deeper, and the fish hide in the coral reefs—especially near the shore, where there are tons of them! 🐟✨ Personally, I didn’t find it as stunning as Oahu’s Captain Bruce since it’s farther out, but the 2+ hours of water time were absolutely exhilarating. 🤿🌊 🌟 Akaka Falls Waterfall A super easy loop trail—takes about an hour to complete. 🌿 Along the way, we were surrounded by lush tropical plants and even spotted two adorable little geckos! 🦎💚 After admiring the waterfall, we capped off the trip with a refreshing kula shave ice nearby. Perfect ending! 🍧😋 🌟 Kaumana Caves Lava Cave Adventure A hidden gem recommended by a friend—perfect for a kid-friendly adventure! 🏞️🔥 Located on the way from Hilo to Mauna Kea, it’s a great pit stop. Must-bring: Headlamp, long pants, long sleeves, and grippy shoes! 🧗‍♀️💡 The cave is dark but not scary—no creepy critters, just slippery ground, so watch your step. The whole exploration takes under an hour, just enough to be fun without being exhausting. Inside, you’ll see shiny metallic rocks—traces of cooled lava! 🌋✨ 🌟 Heavenly Farm Coffee Tour While the kids played in the pool, I took my parents to this coffee farm—highly recommend their farm tour! ☕🌱 For $25/person, you get unlimited coffee (and it’s delicious!).
