Bistro Romano in Philadelphia: 6.5 Points

First of all, I had to deduct five points right away. I’ve never been to a place where it took an hour just to get bread. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 PM, and by the time we got our main course, it was already 9:00 PM. I’m not sure if this is just the case for the single-level bar area or if the downstairs dining room is the same. 😅 (Also, I had a bit of an upset stomach later in the evening, so I’m not sure what went wrong...) 🍄‍🟫Sea Salt Focaccia🍄‍🟫 The focaccia bread with tomato pesto sauce was quite disappointing. The bread was oddly cold when it arrived and felt greasy. After mentioning it to the waiter, they brought another version that seemed like it had been reheated in an air fryer. 🦀Gnocchi🦀 The Italian potato dumplings were soft and chewy, with a texture somewhere between pasta and rice cake. They were delicious! The rich dairy flavor and truffle notes were well-balanced, and the addition of diced prosciutto made for a classic, foolproof combination. 🍞Roasted Lamb Chops🍞 The lamb chops, cooked medium, were very tender with minimal gamey flavor. The charred taste from the grill was quite pronounced. They were served with a Bordeaux wine sauce that was salty with a hint of sweet and sour, which helped cut through the richness. I also detected a slight hint of onion. The sides included roasted broccoli (which was surprisingly delicious), small potatoes, and two slices of roasted basil leaves on top. That was quite a unique touch! 🥩New York Strip Steak🥩 (I think the menu might have a typo; it should probably be "NY Strip Steak.") The steak was served with Barolo wine sauce. Honestly, I couldn’t really tell much difference between Barolo and Bordeaux wine sauces. The sides included a small portion of maitake mushrooms, tender asparagus (which my friend described as being on the delicate line between raw and cooked), creamy mashed potatoes, and fried onion rings. #PhiladelphiaFood #StudentEating #LifeInPhiladelphia #PhiladelphiaRestaurantHunting
