Bombolina Review 🧳 Salem Day Trip from Boston
Nestled in Salem, Bombolina is a unique spot blending Italian, Chinese, and Japanese cuisine. The menu is double-sided—flip it to pick whatever suits your craving! Their ramen supposedly tastes great… but I just couldn’t bring myself to order it. ① Grilled Caesar Salad This had a pretty odd flavor. Called a "salad," it was actually a whole head of romaine lettuce, topped with sardines. Sorry, but sardines and Caesar dressing? Total mismatch for me. The whole thing was way too salty, and you have to cut it into bite-sized pieces yourself ☹️My Rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑 (3/5) ② Olives 🫒 My boyfriend’s parents ordered these. I’ve never liked olives—sour and salty, not my thing.Biased Rating: 🌕🌑🌑🌑🌑 (1/5) ③ Pickled Cucumbers These were bold in flavor—tangy and salty, with that fermented kick older Koreans love. Perfect for pairing with rice… except we didn’t order any rice.Rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌘🌑 (3.5/5) We Tried 3 Pizzas: Soppressata PizzaIt sounded fancy on the menu, but it was super plain. I ordered it blind without checking photos online, and totally regretted it. It’s not bad—just nothing special.Rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑 (3.5/5) Forest Mushroom PizzaIncredible. Juicy mushrooms, just the right drizzle of truffle oil—everything worked. A MUST-order!Rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕 (5/5) Ham & BlueThe server recommended this—said she eats it every shift. I’m not a blue cheese fan, so I was hesitant… but I had zero regrets. It’s sweet, all the toppings complement each other, and even a splash of the restaurant’s (not-so-)spicy oil made it better. The gorgonzola had no funky mold taste at all!Rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌖 (4.5/5) Growing up in New York, I’m used to thin-crust pizza. Bombolina’s crust is on the thinner side—soft inside, crispy outside (like crusty bread). As someone who loves a crunchy crust, I didn’t mind one bit. Overall, this place comes recommended 🍴 #SalemWitchTown #BostonLife
