Boston One-Hour Drive 🚗 Day Trip for Sunset Viewing and Bird Watching
🌳🌊 Plum Island is a coastal barrier island in the northeast of Massachusetts, USA, near Newburyport, spanning across the towns of Newbury, Rowley, and Ipswich. This slender island is known for its beautiful beaches, unique ecosystem, and rich wildlife, offering a place where nature conservation and leisure activities come together. 🌿🌊 The Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, located nearby, may be in winter, but the Gatehouse can still open the door to nature for you 🚪! Fewer animals in winter, but we still spotted some birds, ducks, and owls 🦉🦆🌾! If you’re bored on a weekend in Boston and don’t know where to go, this is a great place to watch birds and sunsets. 💡 Plum Island Light The lighthouse on the island was built in the 19th century and is one of the landmarks of history and culture. Although the lighthouse is not open for public tours, it remains a popular photo spot on the island. 💰 There’s a five-dollar entrance fee per vehicle 🎫. I paid in cash, not sure if they accept cards, so it’s best to have cash on hand 💰 just in case you can’t use a card. ‼️ Note: No dogs allowed 🐶 🅿️ There is ample parking available in the area. #PlumIsland #ParkerRiverWildlifeRefuge #Gatehouse #NatureConservation #BirdWatchingHeaven #BostonLife #Boston #boston #BostonWeekend #AroundBoston #bostonfood #USA #BostonExploration
