Brantford🇨🇦 | Food Guide: Nine North
While cleaning out my drafts, I stumbled upon this review of Nine North from my Laurier days. This place holds so many university memories—it was practically my second dining hall! The owner is incredibly sweet too. Back when I first visited as a wide-eyed international student, she surprised us with a complimentary cake 🍰. It’s a shame they’re closed on Mondays—I missed eating here after my graduation ceremony, and who knows when I’ll get another chance. A Laurier alum’s must-order list at Nine North: 🍜 Nine North Special Pho ✅ The best pho I’ve ever had—a regular bowl is more than enough. ✅ Packed with toppings: beef balls, tendon, sliced beef, tripe, and more. 🌯 Fresh Spring Rolls ✅ All 7 varieties are delicious, but the meatball roll steals the show—chewy, slightly sweet, and so Chinese-palate-friendly. ✅ Dip it in their magical sauce—a heavenly mix of hoisin and peanut butter (tastes like Peking duck sauce, but better!). 🦑 Calamari ✅ Tastes just like street-style fried snacks from back home—nostalgia overload! The tangy dipping sauce cuts through the richness perfectly. 🍛 Green Curry / Red Curry ✅ Red curry is spicier, but both are ultimate rice killers 😎. 🍚 Stir-Fried Rice ✅ Authentic wok-fried rice—tastes just like my dad’s version! 🍝 Pad Thai ✅ Classic sweet-and-savory flavor, huge portion (leftovers guaranteed). 🐮 Beef Stir-Fry (Phở Xào) ✅ Wok-fried noodles = forever legendary, though a tad oily (but hey, all good phở xào is!). 🍲 Bún Bò Huế ✅ My nickname for it: "Vietnamese braised beef noodles"! Tender brisket, daikon soaked in broth, and rich soup (just be ready to chug water afterward). 📍 Nine North | Brantford’s hidden gem for Southeast Asian comfort food. #BrantfordEats #CanadianFood #LaurierLife #WilfridLaurierUniversity #PhoLovers
