🐶 Bringing Our Dogs to Maine – Portland Is So Pet-Friendly!

This Independence Day, we finally made our long-planned road trip with our two dogs happen! 🚗💨 From New Jersey ➡️ Portland ➡️ Acadia — a 4-day, 3-night adventure. To avoid traffic, we left JC at 7:30 AM and arrived at our hotel in Portland around 1 PM. 🏨 Hyatt Place Portland-Old Port Pet-friendly 🐾 — $75 pet fee per night. They gifted our pups some treats! The room was spacious with a sofa and a large window so the dogs could enjoy the view. The hotel is located right in the heart of the town, within walking distance of most recommended restaurants and cute local shops. 🦪 Eventide Oyster Co. (Pet-Friendly 🐾) We had lunch here. Waited about an hour to be seated 🕐—during which we grabbed donuts at The Holy Donut 🍩 and blueberry soda. Our group of four ordered 2 dozen oysters 🦪—the staff recommended their freshest varieties. We also tried the lobster roll, crab bun, clam chowder, and lobster stew. The oysters were incredibly fresh and delicious! 🥰 The other dishes were just okay—other places do them better. After lunch, we explored some fun local shops: 1️⃣ Maxwell's Pottery Outlet – Full of cute handmade crafts 🏺. Perfect for souvenirs! 2️⃣ Cool As A Moose – My friend bought an adorable lobster T-shirt here 👕. 3️⃣ Uncommon Paws – A super well-stocked pet store 🐕. We bought lobster toys 🦞 and treats made from lobster and blueberry for our pups. In the afternoon, we took the dogs to Portland Head Light Lighthouse 💡. Very photogenic! There’s a huge, rarely crowded lawn where the dogs could run and play. For dinner, we randomly picked a highly-rated bar nearby: 🍹 Blyth & Burrows The food turned out to be surprisingly delicious! We ordered Shrimp Cocktail, Pretzels, Sausage Roll, and Lobster Roll—nothing disappointed. For drinks, we recommend the Shore Leave 🥥—strong coconut flavor! We checked out the next morning and headed to Acadia 🏞️. Before leaving, we grabbed a blueberry latte from Arabica Coffee ☕️ and picked up fresh uni, sweet shrimp, and sashimi from ISF Trading 🍣. Note: The store isn’t pet-friendly, so we asked for extra ice and enjoyed the seafood later at our hotel near Acadia. #Maine #Portland #PetFriendly #PortlandME 🇺🇸🐾
