Brisbane Surroundings | Car-Free North Island Day Trip Guide 🏝️
📍First things first: I feel that North Island isn't very high in playability and there are few activities, but the scenery is really beautiful. Friends who haven't seen the glass-like sea should go for it! Those who have seen it but are bored staying in Brisbane can also go, but the weather is really too hot now, which is a bit discouraging. 🚊Transportation to North Island: 1️⃣ Get on the SHCL train from any railway station in the urban area. It runs every half an hour and gets off at Cleveland, which takes about 1 hour. If you only visit Point Lookout, taking the train at 10 am is quite leisurely. 2️⃣ After exiting the gate of Cleveland platform, walk right to the main road, then turn right, and you can see a bus stop. Take bus 271 or the free bus from here to Toondah Harbour Ferry, which takes about 10 minutes. 3️⃣ After getting off, you can see two ferry companies, Flyer and SeaLink, that travel to and from North Island. Either is fine. If you drive to the island, only SeaLink is available. The ferry ticket is 30 AUD per person, and student tickets are 15 AUD. Be sure to keep both tickets after purchasing, as they will be checked on the return trip‼️ 4️⃣ The Flyer ferry to and from North Island runs once an hour. For specific times, you can check . It takes about 20 minutes by ferry to reach North Island, and the same goes for the return trip. 🚌Transportation on the island: 1️⃣ After getting off the ferry, walk to the right and you can see a bus stop. Take bus 880 to the terminal, which is Point Lookout, the most popular attraction on North Island. It takes about half an hour. There is no scenery along the way, so no need to stop. The same applies to the return trip. 2️⃣ If you have enough time, you can also visit Amity, an attraction on the other side of the island. You need to transfer to bus 881 at the middle stop of route 880. 🌊How to play at Point Lookout: 🚶Hiking: After getting off at the terminal of bus 880, walk north and enter from the sign of North Gorge Walk. The hiking along the way takes about half an hour, where you can see wild kangaroos and two beaches where you can go into the water. The whole journey is very beautiful, and you don't need to take the same route back. Coming out along the road is South Gorge Walk. In fact, the two entrances of N/S GW are very close, just around the front and back of the bus stop. 🏝️Seaside activities: There are two beaches on both sides of N/S GW, Frenchmans and Main Beach. There are few people and no activities on the F side. There are many people on the M side, and surfing is done here. There are also free outdoor shower facilities nearby. My route is: after hiking out from the SGW side, continue walking south a little and play on the M side. 🍽️Dining: There are restaurants in Dunwich and PL after getting off the ferry, so you can eat whenever you go. #BrisbaneSurroundings #BrisbaneDayTrips #BrisbaneNorthIslandDayTrip #BrisbaneNorthIsland #Brisbane #UQ #StudyAbroad #AustralianInternationalStudents #InternationalStudentLife #BrisbaneNorthIslandGuide
