North Stradbroke Island
It’s the most beautiful sea I’ve seen recently. The four-plus hours of driving and ferry ride were totally worth it. The moment I pressed the shutter with sunlight sparkling on the sea, I felt everything was worthwhile! No matter how you take photos with a camera, there will be color differences. What the naked eye sees is a light blue with a slight green tint, especially near the beach. That color is really healing. And I want to add some key points about visiting North Island! I did a lot of research before going, but I was still confused when I actually got to the island. I hope this can help friends who plan to go have a better understanding~ 1️⃣ Be sure to leave enough time to reach the port (Sealink North Stradbroke Island) (if departing from Brisbane, you can get to Cleveland from South Brisbane/ Southbank/ Boggo Road Station). We didn’t reserve enough time, and the Stradbroke Flyer’s Shuttle bus (free, you don’t have to take 271/274, same platform) was a few minutes late, which made us miss a ferry directly. We waited there for over an hour.🙂🙂 2️⃣ The port where the ferry arrives is called Dunwich. Turn right when you get out, and that’s the bus station. Get on the 880 and buy a $1 all-day unlimited ride ticket from the driver (can pay by card). It takes about 40 minutes to reach the last stop (there’s a stop called Point Lookout halfway, but that’s not it! You need to go to the last stop called Gorge Walk. Point Lookout is the stop leading to the coastal trail and Main beach). After getting off, if you’re not sure how to get to the trail or how to get back to the bus stop, just ask the driver because there are no road signs or instructions on the island at all! The trail is designed along the coastline and will eventually loop back to the bus stop, so you don’t need to retrace your steps! Strolling through the entire trail, including taking photos at a leisurely pace, may take 40 minutes to 1 hour; if you’re just passing through quickly, 20 minutes is enough.☺️ 3️⃣ Another attraction is in Amity, which we didn’t visit this time. Because you need to take the 880 to the bus interchange and then transfer to the 881, which takes nearly an hour and a half. It was too rushed for a day trip, so we plan to take the 881 to Amity next time or stay here for a night. In short, the transportation on the island is really inconvenient (the bus schedule is inaccurate, and if you miss one, you have to wait an hour and a half! If you need to take the bus, arrive 15-20 minutes in advance). The same goes for the return ferry. If driving, you can directly buy a ferry ticket for $200 per car, with no limit on the number of people. People can get on the ferry with the car, which is relatively more convenient!💕💕💕 4️⃣ Finally, avoid the fish and chip shop called Fishes. It’s really bad! I wonder how they can even make chips taste bad? But there are really few places to eat on the island. Otherwise, you have to take a bus for a long time to find a restaurant. Friends planning to come, remember to bring some snacks with you~ In short, my first impression of North Island is that it’s developed but not fully developed, but the scenery is really worth it!🙂🙂🙂 #Brisbane #BrisbaneTravel #BrisbaneLife #AustraliaTravel #Australia #AustralianTrip
