Broken Eggs: A Cozy Spanish Bistro with Great Vibes 🥚
Finally got to visit this adorable and super trendy new spot in London—Broken Eggs! Established in 2022 by siblings Gabriel Larraz and Marta Verdu, it initially operated as delivery-only and officially opened its brick-and-mortar restaurant in June 2023. Overall, I was very satisfied! The restaurant has a warm and cozy atmosphere. The tables are small, but the service is incredibly attentive. They closely monitor your progress and only bring the next dish once you’ve finished the previous one. The tapas were great, though the meat dishes were slightly less impressive. The menu is limited, but I’ll definitely be back to try their brunch and the full tortilla. 1️⃣ Pan Con Tomate (Tomato Bread) 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The crust is super crispy, like a cookie, while the inside is soft and tender without being soggy. The salt ratio is perfect, enhancing the appetite and making it irresistible! 2️⃣ Croquetas (Fried Croquettes) 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The exterior is crispy and not greasy at all. The inside is a delightful surprise! This is the cheesiest Spanish croquette I’ve ever had, with a rich, creamy cheese filling and a hint of ham. The salty-sweet combination is perfect! 3️⃣ House Tortilla (Spanish Omelette) 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 It comes as a slice (the whole tortilla is only available at breakfast/brunch). This makes sense as it prevents you from getting too full from just one dish. The quality is on par with Barrafina (my favorite Spanish restaurant in London🥇). The inside is creamy, and the crust has a bit of chewiness. Highly recommended! 4️⃣ Gambas Al Ajillo (Garlic Shrimp) 🌟🌟🌟🌟 A bit disappointing—no shrimp heads! One of the main flavors/pleasures of this dish is savoring the shrimp roe inside the heads. The shrimp meat is tender, but the texture is a bit lacking. The garlic olive oil sauce is perfect, though, and it’s great for mopping up with bread. It’s good, but not top-tier. 5️⃣ Carrilleras (Slow-Braised Pork Cheeks) 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Topped with crispy sweet potato, adding a nice crunch. Below is mashed potato with a slightly sweet sauce. The pork is tender and falls apart easily. Delicious! 6️⃣ Basque Cheesecake 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Seeing everyone order it, I had to try it—and it’s amazing! The cake is cool and creamy with a subtle, non-excessive molten center. The edges have a solid cake texture. Personally, I prefer more cake and less filling, and this one hits the spot perfectly. The sweetness is just right, and I loved it! #HiddenRestaurantGems #UKFood #LondonRestaurantRecommendations #LondonFood #MustTryRestaurantsInLondon #LondonMustTryFood #LondonExploration #LondonFoodGuide #AmbianceRestaurantsInLondon #LondonRestaurants #FoodieExploration #FoodShare
