Canada 📷 | Witnessing a Smoky Strawberry Moon on the Summer Solstice in Vancouver

On June 20th, the summer solstice, Vancouver experienced its longest day of the year 🌞. From a sunrise at 5:06 AM to a sunset at 9:21 PM, the daylight lasted for a full 16 hours and 15 minutes ⏳. That evening, a full moon rose into the sky, known as the “Strawberry Moon” 🍓🌕. Despite the name, this doesn’t mean the moon turns “strawberry-colored.” The name comes from Indigenous traditions, where each month’s full moon is named based on natural characteristics and agricultural activities 🌿. June is strawberry harvest season, hence the name. But today’s “Strawberry Moon” in Vancouver was a bit unique 🌫️. Driving halfway up the mountain, I discovered a large fire blazing in the Richmond area, with smoke forming a cloud band across the sky 🌬️. Coincidentally, this was exactly where the full moon was rising. The fire was intense, with flames still visible until midnight 🔥. Let’s hope everyone in the area stays safe 🙏. #Moon #Tonight'sMoon #FullMoon #StrawberryMoon #Vancouver #Richmond #DocumentingMyCity
