🚆 Car-Free Day Trip to Oakville: A Charming Escape Near Toronto
As autumn approaches, there’s no better time to explore the quaint towns around Toronto! After Burlington, let me introduce you to Oakville—a perfect spot for a relaxed, car-free getaway. 🚗 Transportation We took the GO Train from Union Station (only 45 mins to Oakville!). The new Weekend One-Day Pass ($10) lets you ride unlimited, and Union Station’s cute new shops are worth a peek! From Oakville GO, hop on Bus 14/15 (15 mins to downtown). 📸 Must-Visit Spots 🏡 Downtown Oakville A hub of cozy cafés and restaurants, with a laid-back vibe. Grab coffee or ice cream and relax on the iconic red benches while people-watching—pure bliss! 🌈 Rainbow Crosswalk A surprise find! This Instagrammable spot was empty when we visited—perfect for solo photos. 🌊 Lakeside Park & Lighthouse Packed with picnickers! Walk to the lighthouse for stunning views (you can even spot the CN Tower!). Sunset here is magical. ⛵️ Shipyard Park Right across from the lighthouse, this marina is ideal for breezy waterfront hangs (just bring shade for summer visits!). 🍴 Food Highlight 🍦 Farma Greek (Greek Yogurt Ice Cream) A viral spot! We tried fig & pistachio—the fig jam was sweet but delicious, while pistachio had a nice crunch. Portions are huge! (Tip: It’s sweeter than expected!) 💔 Missed Spot: Gairloch Gardens (a Monet-inspired pond with water lilies!). If you go, send me pics—I’m curious! 📍 Oakville Summary Vibes: Slow-paced, picturesque, perfect for café hopping & lakeside strolls. Best For: Couples, solo explorers, or friends wanting a chill day. Rating: 9/10 (minus 1 for missing Gairloch Gardens 😂). #TorontoDayTrips #OakvilleOntario #CarFreeTravel #FallVibes #ExploreOntario
