Celebrate The Legion of Honor’s 100th Anniversary With Art Making And Free Music This Weekend
The Legion of Honor has been celebrating its 100th anniversary since November 2024, with various events at the iconic museum and even a special exhibit dedicated to the museum’s history. After a year of exciting events, the historic museum will host a final party to celebrate its 100th anniversary this weekend, on Saturday, November 8th. The event will run from 10 am to 4:30 pm at the museum, featuring chamber music from the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra , a library book sale, and even screen printing. The event is free and open to the public, although it does not allow for entry into special exhibitions in the museum. The museum has free admission for residents every Saturday, so this is the perfect opportunity to stop by and explore the many galleries . The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco will have their first library book sale, featuring books on art and history . You can expect new and used titles, including some out-of-print works, and prices will range from $5 to $50 . The sale will run from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm, and all proceeds will benefit the FAMSF library and programming. You can also grab a Legion of Honor-inspired screen print from ARTivate’s mobile art bikes on the museum’s front lawn. The screen prints will be available from 11:30 to 3:30 pm , and are a great way to have a unique souvenir from the museum. While you’re at the museum, we recommend exploring the newest exhibition, *Manet & Morisot*, which explores the painters’ friendship through art. The final celebration is free and open to the public . You can learn more about the Legion of Honor and reserve tickets for the galleries here.
