Charleston Travel and Food Guide (With a Baby Version) πŸ‘ΆπŸΌ

First of all, it is highly NOT recommended to travel long distances with a young baby β€” it’s exhausting for both the baby and adults. πŸ₯΅ Charleston, SC is super hot, and our baby was sweating all the time when outdoors. Attractions 🚒 Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum (Aircraft Carrier) $28 per person (free for infants). There’s an accessible elevator to the Main Deck. Since it was extremely hot, I stayed with the baby on the Main Deck while the rest of the family explored. No AC inside β€” the deck and cabins are VERY hot and have some odd smells.πŸŽ‰ Audio guides are available for rent. Compared to the warships in San Diego, this one is smaller and not as well-maintained. Not recommended for summer visits with a baby.☺️ 🌳 Middleton Place $29 per person, $15 for students. A classic Southern plantation, and one of the filming locations for Gone with the Wind. Scenic views and nice environment, but… again, very HOT and filled with mosquitoes and bugs. 🦟 🍍 Pineapple Fountain A famous photo spot β€” not much to do, but the surrounding area is pretty. Nice for a stroll with the baby. 🌈 Rainbow Row Located near the Pineapple Fountain β€” a row of colorful historic houses, very Instagrammable. Remember to apply mosquito repellent! Food πŸ– Lewis Barbecue (Texas-style BBQ) Went twice! Always crowded β€” go before 5:30 PM to avoid lines. Parking is limited; use their additional parking lot.🎈 Recommended: pork ribs, brisket (sold by the pound or as sandwiches). Sides: coleslaw (tangy and refreshing), banana pudding (sweet but good). Four adults spent around $110 β€” portions are generous! πŸ¦€ Fleet Landing Restaurant & Bar Not super hyped on Xiaohongshu, but definitely worth a visit! Oceanfront location β€” must make a reservation in advance! Recommended: oysters, crab cake, crab soup, fried oysters, lobster pudding. Large portions, good value. Four people spent around $180 including tip. πŸ’΅ Cash discounts available. πŸ…ΏοΈ No parking onsite β€” use nearby Concord Cumberland Parking Garage. 🍴 Slightly North of Broad (Broad Street Restaurant) Southern cuisine, nice atmosphere β€” reservations recommended. Small portions β€” four people left still hungry after $120. Shrimp and grits were good but a bit salty. The complimentary bread was delicious. Park at the garage mentioned above.✨ #CharlestonTravel #CharlestonFood #TravelWithBaby πŸ‘ΆπŸ’¦
