Checking in at Speyer Cathedral 🏰🚂

Planning to explore the German World Heritage sites around me, let's start with Speyer Cathedral. 🚞&🚌 Transportation Take the S-BAHN to Speyer Hbf, and then catch bus route 561 from the station square to Domplatz. However, I wanted to stroll around the town more, so I got off at Postplatz and walked to the church along the street—after all, the buses here are almost as slow as walking. 🚶🏻‍♂️ Route Get off at Postplatz and you'll see the Old Gate, Altpörtel, which stands at 55 meters tall and is one of the tallest city gates in Germany, built between 1230 and 1250. Along the street, you'll also find the town hall, and then the cathedral is just ahead; it's a ten-minute walk at most. 🕘&💰 Opening Hours and Ticket Prices November to March: Monday to Saturday 9-17, Sunday 11:30-17:00 April to October: Monday to Saturday 9-19, Sunday 11:30-17:30 Entry to the church is free, while the price for entering the Imperial Crypt and the tower can be found on the official website. 👀 Highlights As the largest Romanesque church in the world, Speyer Cathedral was founded in 1030 and has always been the burial place for German emperors. Over a period of nearly three hundred years, at least eight Holy Roman Emperors of the German Nation have been laid to rest here. Speyer Cathedral has also experienced a great fire, but the two restorations in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries not only accurately restored its original appearance but also added elements of Romanticism. This principle of restoration has profoundly influenced the cultural heritage preservation efforts in Germany, Europe, and the world. The church is not crowded, allowing you to properly appreciate the murals and sculptures above. The cultural and historical significance of this church far outweighs its artistic value. p6-p14 Church ⛪ #GermanWorldHeritage #HeidelbergSurroundingTrips #Germany #Church #Speyer #49EuroMonthlyTicket #BadenWurttemberg #Rhineland
