Cheers🍷 First Experience at Port Wine Cellar Cálem in Porto
🌟In Porto, you must try the local Port wine. Vila Nova de Gaia is home to many famous wineries, such as Graham’s, Taylor’s, Cockburn’s, and Caves Cálem. 🌟I chose Cálem because of its convenient location, right under the Dom Luís I Bridge. No need to worry about transportation, and you can enjoy a tipsy sunset view after the tasting. 🌟I didn’t just walk in; I bought my tickets directly from their official website. They offer various language options, with the English sessions being the most popular and quickest to sell out. 🌟The visit consists of: 15 minutes of free exploration + 20 minutes of guided explanation + wine tasting (self-paced) I recommend choosing a session close to sunset. 🌟They offer two types of packages: 🌟CLASSIC - 2 great wines (Cálem Fine White and Cálem Special Reserve Tawny), 19 euros PREMIUM - 3 wines (Cálem White & Dry, Late Bottled Vintage, and 10 Years Old Tawny), 25 euros There are also packages with cheese or chocolate; feel free to choose according to your preference. 🌟We went for the PREMIUM package, with 3 glasses of wine. The experience was that Port wine is sweeter and smoother, with no bitterness. I have a decent tolerance, but I was slightly tipsy after mixing drinks. If you don’t handle alcohol well, I suggest going for the 2-glass option. 🌟There’s a shop on the way out selling wines produced by the winery. It’s not very convenient to carry, but I later saw them at Porto airport. If you’re leaving Porto, you can buy them at the airport. 🔔 Open Monday-Sunday, 10:00-19:00 #AroundTheWorld #Vacation #EnjoyASipTonight #PortoTravel #PortoWineCellar #WineryTour
