Cole Valley Will Be Transformed Into An Urban Garden This Week For The Last Neighborhood Night Market Of 2025

Cole Valley is a quiet neighborhood in SF known for its charming houses , good food, and proximity to Golden Gate Park. Recently, the neighborhood has been buzzing with markets, busy restaurants, and new wine bars, including the latest Woods location. Recently, a local nonprofit has been creating pop-up “town squares,” turning local streets into gardens with sitting areas for the public to enjoy. The project intends to turn streets or vacant lots into community gathering spaces (much like a classic town square) with amenities such as seating, music, plants, and more. In the past, the event has featured 500 plants to create the town square, creating a small oasis in the middle of the street. After several successful town squares in the past few months, the final one of 2025 is this week . The urban garden will return for four days this time, starting on Tuesday, November 18, and running through Friday, November 21 . The town square will once again coincide with the popular night market in the neighborhood on Thursday evening. Cole Valley Nights will feature numerous local vendors, festive events, and live music. You can expect a pie-baking contest and a raffle during the market. Plus, there will be two stages with performances from DJ Dan Flomatic and The Cires as opening acts, followed by Stu Allen and Mars Hotel. You can check out the street market on Thursday, November 20, from 4 to 9 pm on Cole Street . In the meantime, you have several days to explore the town square, whether you want to enjoy a coffee among the plants or just stop by for a quick look. The event is organized by the Civic Joy Fund and Green Streets. The Civic Joy Fund is involved in numerous projects that bring free community events to SF, such as Third Thursdays on Ellis and regular cleanups.
