Cologne and Bonn: Great Spots for a Spring Outing 🌸🌿

To get to Cologne, take the line 18 or a train to Brühl, then navigate to Schloss Augustusburg. For the Falkenlust hunting lodge, you'll need to set your location to Falkenlust, which is about a 2-kilometer walk from Schloss Augustusburg. 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️ Admission: Students get a half-price deal! The combined ticket for Schloss Augustusburg and Falkenlust is only 7.5 euros, which we all thought was a fantastic value! 🎫💰 History: In 1725, Clemens August of Bavaria, a member of the Wittelsbach dynasty and Archbishop-Elector of Cologne, commissioned architects Johann Conrad Schlaun and François de Cuvilliés to design and build the castle. The Falkenlust hunting lodge, built between 1729 and 1740, served as a recreational hunting ground for the nobility. Both buildings are located within a massive 50-hectare park and are connected by an avenue that runs through the garden. Until the 1990s, it was still a place where the German president received foreign dignitaries. They are among the most important Baroque and Rococo buildings in Germany in the 18th century and were listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. 🏰🌳 Architectural Style: Schloss Augustusburg is indeed a masterpiece of Rococo castles, and in fact, it is also the first Rococo-style building in Germany. Rococo is characterized by its curved corners and decorative elements. Highly recommended! If you haven't been to the Palace of Versailles in France, come and see Schloss Augustusburg. For less than 10 euros, you can enjoy a grand castle + large garden + vast woods and hunting park views. 🏰🌳🦌 #Europe #Cologne #Bonn #WorldHeritage #WeekendOuting #Castle #SchlossAugustusburg
