Come to Edinburgh to eat Scottish cuisine.
I wanted to go two years ago when I was in Edinburgh, but there was a long line for walk-ins, so I missed out. I thought about going to the one in London, but it closed down soon after. This time, I made a reservation well in advance and finally got to eat it! ๐ Slow-cooked lamb shank It has the feeling of braised pork knuckles. The skin is crispy, and the fibers inside are very tender. It's served with mashed potatoes and red wine sauce, which all go well with the meat. It also comes with pickled shredded cabbage and purple cabbage to cut the greasiness. ๐ฎ Braised beef shoulder Similar to the lamb dish, but with a slightly different seasoning, leaning towards a saltier taste. The side dishes are the same. Personally, I think you can choose one of the two main dishes. ๐ Haggis You must try the most famous Scottish dish, Haggis! It has no strange taste at all, it's just minced sheep's offal made into a pudding shape, topped with pumpkin puree. The cream mushroom sauce underneath is also very soulful. PS. Haggis is available as a main dish and a side dish. Two people can order one side dish, as the main dish is really a large portion. I also wanted to order another one. This place is quite authentic with Scottish cuisine, and many local elderly people come to eat here. But remember to make a reservation at least a week in advance. The walk-in entrance and the reservation entrance are different, and you can go straight in. Last time I also ate at another place called Howies, which felt more refined and formal, and the taste was also very good. ๐Makars Mash Bar 9-12 Bank St, Edinburgh EH1 2LN Average cost per person: ยฃ25 #EdinburghFood #UKLife #UK #EdinburghTravel #LondonLife #ScottishCuisine #UKExplore
