Corima NYC 🌮 | A Wild & Bold Michelin-Starred Mexican Journey

Since earning its first Michelin star last year, I’ve had my eye on Corima — this modern Mexican gem tucked near Chinatown. And with the chef recently recognized on the Best Chef list, I knew it was time to finally experience it before winter arrived. Here’s the flavorful breakdown: 🍤 Buñuelo A Spanish-style fritter shaped like tartare, served with squid, white asparagus, and almonds. The cold broth sauce added a tangy kick — a refreshing starter, though the squid carried a slight briny note. 🐟 Branzino Grilled sea bass neck with smoked chili sauce, cascabel pepper, and scallions. Charred to perfection, brightened with lemon — a well-balanced spicy, sour, and savory bite. 🥑 Tostada Ink-infused corn tortilla topped with pickled kohlrabi, caviar, seaweed, and pumpkin seed cream. Creamy with a wild salty-tangy profile — not totally my style, but intriguing. 🌮 Crudo Kanpachi wrapped in radish slices, dyed vibrant red with beet juice and crowned with beet gel. A burst of cilantro fragrance with subtle sweet-sour notes — delicate and well-crafted. 🥔 Potatoes Creamy finger potatoes hidden under spiced beef floss, cheese, and onion, drizzled with almond oil and black olives. Rich, savory, and deeply comforting. 🍄 Monkfish Charcoal-grilled monkfish with roasted garlic shoots, chanterelles, and a matcha-pumpkin seed foam. Nutty, mildly spicy, with a hint of herbal bitterness — complex and satisfying. 🔥 Taco Squid ink taco shell filled with fish floss, squid liver chili, Basque pepper, and charred chilaca. A bold, fiery explosion — not for the faint of heart, but utterly thrilling. 🦆 Dry Aged Duck 14-day aged duck breast, smoked over coal, served with habanada pepper–black currant sauce and pink peppercorn. Crispy skin, rich aged flavor — paired with fluffy flatbread and crispy duck leg waffle. 🍧 Blueberry Blueberry yogurt with Jerusalem artichoke crumble and corn panna cotta — simple and pleasant, though tame compared to the bold savories. 🍬 Petit Fours A lovely finale: lemon verbena macaron, sweet corn tart, corn financier, and pine nut–dark chocolate bonbon. Vibe & Service The space blends a bar, dining area, and open kitchen with a lively energy. Service, however, felt inconsistent — room to grow for a star-holding spot. Corima offers one of the more affordable Michelin-starred menus in NYC. While the ingredients may not astonish, the flavor combinations are fearless — sharp, wild, and unapologetically Mexican. It may not be the “best meal ever,” but it’s a thrilling ride for those craving something different. #CorimaNYC #MexicanCuisine #MichelinNYC #NYCDining #ModernMexican #FoodAdventure
