🍷 D’Angelo’s | A Cozy Encounter on a Spring Night 🍝
D’Angelo’s Ristorante Italiano sits quietly on the corner of Locust St. I’ve passed by countless times on walks but never stepped in—couldn’t even find any posts or descriptions about it online 📖🚶. For a friend’s birthday, we originally booked Luna, but the freezing wind after parking far away drove us to hurriedly push open the door of D’Angelo’s instead ❄️🚪. Thankfully, we managed to walk in on a Saturday night—and thank goodness for that cold wind that finally made us try this low-key, timeless spot! 🏛 A Vintage, Serene Italian Classic The moment you enter, the old-school decor, framed photos, and award certificates on the walls reveal a classic Italian ambiance 🖼️✨. Though such a vibe initially made me hesitant (worried it might be overly traditional in both menu and flavor), it turned out to be warm, restrained, and quietly romantic. 📌 Chardonnay Took the recommendation for the “sweetest” Chardonnay, but turns out—Italian “sweet” might be what we consider “dry” 😅🍷. Still, it paired well with the food. 📌 Bread & Garlic Olive Oil 🥖 The bread reminded me of Melograno’s style, but the housemade garlic-infused olive oil was a standout 👌💫. 📌 Steamed Squid Salad 🦑🌟 The biggest surprise of the night! I had low expectations (most Italian octopus dishes are either a charred tentacle or basic vinaigrette), but this squid was unexpectedly tender, bouncy, and refreshing—still dreaming about it 😍. 📌 Soup of the Day 🥣 Skip it. We only ordered it because we were frozen from the wind 🥶. 🍝 Pasta | Warning: Huge Portions! ⚠️ 📌 Crab Asparagus Linguini (Daily Special) 🦀 Flavor was lovely, and the waiter kindly asked if we wanted cheese on top. But the portion was insane—felt like two pounds of pasta 🍝😳. 📌 Meatball Marinara 🍝 The menu boldly said “Best Philly Award Winner,” so my friend had to try it… but aside from the giant portion, we couldn’t tell what made it award-worthy 🏆🤔. 🍄 Veal with Mushroom & Pepper 🥩 In stark contrast to the pasta, this came in such a small portion we initially thought it was a complimentary side dish—took us ten minutes to realize it was the main 😂. 🍰 Dessert 📌 Tiramisu 🍮 Classic old-school Italian sweetness—almost too sweet. Proceed with caution! 💡 Final Thoughts | A Vintage, Warm Italian Experience Worth Revisiting ✔ Pasta portions are huge—order carefully! ✔ Good wine selection—excited to try more next time. ✔ Old-world decor with cozy vibes—perfect for losing yourself in the warm lighting ✨🕯️. #Philly #PhillyRestaurants #PhillyFoodie #PhillyExplored #PhillyEats #PhillyLife #PhillyDining
