D12 - Malindi: A Day of Beauty, Chaos & Near-Death 🏝️💀

Today marks one month of solo travel. And oh boy, Malindi really said, "Let’s give this girl a day she’ll never forget." Spontaneous Fishing Trip Gone Wrong ⚡ So… I was strolling along the beach when some local fishermen invited me to join their 5-hour fishing trip for 3000 KSH (~$20). After 10 seconds of deliberation, I hopped on. "Why not? If it makes me happy, it’s worth it!" (Famous last words. 😂) We started by collecting seaweed to feed the fish. One guy said, "Some countries eat this!" I replied, "Yep, China does!" He laughed, "Chinese people eat EVERYTHING." 💀 6 sacks later, we set off to fish. So fun! Then… disaster struck. 🌊🚤 Severe seasickness → near shock Low BP, pale, hands numb + claw-like spasms (excruciating pain!) Migraine, dizziness, vomiting, heart racing I gasped, "I NEED to go back NOW—hospital!" By the time we reached shore, my hands were regaining feeling. Sat on the sand for 20 mins before I could walk. Fun fact: I’ve never gotten seasick on yachts/cruises. Who knew a little fishing boat would make me meet Death’s doorstep? 💀 Googled later—turns out "seasickness-induced claw hands" are rare. Of course it’d happen to me. 🥲 Silver lining? A kind white dude saw me suffering, ran to buy me a huge water bottle, and checked if I was okay. Faith in humanity restored. 🙏 Mom’s Scolding 👩‍👧🔥 Yesterday was boring, so I didn’t update Mom. Today, she texted: "Where are you??" I casually mentioned "almost went into shock" and got the scolding of a lifetime. "What if you passed out? They’d toss you into the ocean and say you fell! You didn’t think about your safety!" …She’s right. I’m an idiot. Never again. 🥲 Post-Trauma Errands 🛒🍪 Took a boda-boda (motorbike taxi, 25 KSH) to the supermarket. Bought beef—*"599 KSH/kg is fresher, right?"* WRONG. Basically rotting. 🤢 Also tried JAWA cookies (meh, not the heavenly treat people hype—just okay). BUT I FOUND INSTANT NOODLES AND EGGS!!! 🍜🥚 Solo traveler victory. Dinner fail: Spent 150 KSH cooking… only to realize I bought vinegar instead of soy sauce. 🤦‍♀️ Final Tally of the Day: ✅ Almost died: 3000 KSH ✅ Motorbike: 25 KSH ✅ Failed groceries: ??? KSH (emotional damage) ✅ Lesson learned: I’m tired. I want to go home. ✈️ #Malindi #Kenya #SoloTravel #NearDeathExperience #TakeMeHome 😭
