Daiwa Sushi Bar – New Orleans Japanese Restaurant Recommendation 🍣
Daiwa isn’t located right in downtown NOLA—it’s over in Metairie, but it’s totally worth the trip! 🚗💨 One thing I really appreciate about this place: I’ve been multiple times and never had a bad meal. Not every dish is mind-blowing, but everything is solid and satisfying! 👍 I’ve visited four times so far, and whether I’m ordering appetizers or sushi blindly, it never disappoints. For starters, I recommend the chilled beef sashimi and the baked scallops (garlic butter flavor—so good!) 🥩🍥 My partner loves the smoked salmon cream cheese tempura, and it’s also great for kids—the fried chicken and fried tofu are delicious! 🍗🧒 For the main course, we always get yaki udon for the little ones—it’s tasty and mild. Adults can try the kimchi-flavored version (just a little spicy!) 🌶️🍜 Now, about the sushi—you can honestly order with your eyes closed! 👀❌ The fish is fresh, and the flavors are consistently good. We usually stick with classics like salmon, tuna, and yellowtail, and I always make sure to get the beef sushi too! One roll that stood out was the Spicy City Roll—mildly spicy, and the sushi is fried on the outside with a cheese stick inside. Huge portion though—very filling! 🧀🔥 The place is pretty popular even on weekdays. For Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evenings, I’d recommend making a reservation. The photo I took was on a Tuesday around 9:30 PM, right before they closed. 📸⏳ What’s your go-to sushi order? Or do you have a favorite Japanese dish you always come back to?
