Darwin | 🛣️ Dundee Beach – A No-Signal Getaway

Finally used some of my annual leave last week 🏖️. Was saving it for next year’s trip back home, but lately felt super stressed, so I took three days off last minute – Wednesday to Friday. My boyfriend took the whole week off (with his dad’s blessing 😂). Monday and Tuesday he packed the car full of gear 🚗💨. We didn’t go too far – just to Dundee Beach. Since it’s wet season now, accommodation was easy to book, so we skipped camping. Wednesday was slow and easy 🎣. We fished along the way from Litchfield to Dundee. Around 3-4 PM, it started pouring – good timing though, we’d just reached our cabin! We made hotpot outside 🍲, watching the rain while eating. The next day was all about off-roading on the beach 🏜️. Not a soul in sight – we drove everywhere exploring. By 2-3 PM we were back, then went for a swim at the park pool. They’d just refilled it that morning 💦. No tourists – just us splashing around like happy dogs 🐶. We were supposed to go home Friday, but he said he wasn’t feeling well 😴, so we stayed an extra day. I went to the tavern by myself and feasted 🍝 (oysters and scallops were tiny – not recommended. Pasta was yummy and huge! Didn’t risk the steak – heard the chef’s mood affects it 😅). Then I went back and slept like a log 😴💤 – caught up on all the missed sleep! My boyfriend can’t sit still 🏃♂️… Unlike me, who can fall asleep anywhere, he’s always busy. When we got back, he washed the car, hosed the driveway, cleaned the garage… I even got him to cut my hair 💇♀️! Even on trips – I’m the one chilling 😌, he’s non-stop. While I rested in the room, he checked the crab traps like 3-4 times 🦀 (just because I said I wanted crab lately… lol he caught nothing though 😂). I’ve said it before – I love Darwin’s wet season 🌧️⚡. Fewer tourists, cheaper prices, and I absolutely love lazing around watching heavy rain and thunderstorms. It calms me down. Overall – if you visit in dry season and love fishing 🎣, Dundee is a great choice. You can rent boats here. The campground is clean with good facilities. No gear? Rent a cabin 🏡 – book directly on their website for the best price! Bug spray is a MUST 🦟 – I got bitten so bad. Also – if fishing in the wild, always shine a torch around for crocs 🐊. And be careful of jellyfish on the beach – better not to swim 🚫🌊.
