David's Bistro: The Ultimate French Dining Experience 🍽️
Nestled in the heart of Little London, David's Bistro is one of those unassuming gems in the city center. Thanks to the quirky afternoon winds, parking downtown was unexpectedly easy. 🌬️ Stepping inside feels like entering a charming European bistro. The red walls, vintage photos, and chalkboard menu create an incredibly cozy atmosphere. 🎨 The chalkboard features daily set menus ($42 for two courses, $50 for three). You can also choose from any dessert on the menu. The wine list on the backboard has many options not found at LCBO—feel free to ask the staff for recommendations. 🍷 Tasting Menu: - Soup of the Day : A hearty potato, bacon, corn, and leek stew, topped with smoked trout. Loved it! The first bite of soup was a delightful surprise. 🥣 - Main Course : Pan-seared Skate Wing with lemon-chive cream sauce, served with potatoes and green beans. The skate was delicate and flavorful, with no fishy taste, and the potatoes were incredibly creamy and delicious on their own. 🐟 - Appetizer : Rabbit Rillettes ($21) A well-balanced rabbit meat paste. It’s not the kind of dish that knocks you out with its first bite, but it’s consistently satisfying. The smooth and rich rabbit paste (a bit like pâté?) is topped with a slightly sweet apple jelly (watch out for occasional bone fragments). The refreshing apple-mustard sauce and crispy brioche cubes make it incredibly appetizing and not at all greasy! 🐰 - Main Course : Wild Boar Chop ($44) The boar chop is tender and chewy without being dry, with a fragrant crust. The gamey flavor is clean and smoky. It’s served with a beautifully caramelized cream potato stack (I thought it was lasagna at first!) and accompanied by carrot puree and spinach. 🐗 Dessert : The classic French crème caramel is a must-try. The dark chocolate truffles are like a sophisticated version of Japanese-style chocolate, with a slightly bitter-sweet, cottony center. Although they’re not overly sweet, they pair perfectly with fruit. 🍫 The portions are not overly large, but the pricing feels very fair. Reservations are a must, especially during holidays! The overall experience is truly a 4.8-star feeling. Closed on Sundays and Mondays. Open from 5-10 PM on weekdays, with a lunch service on Fridays from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM. 🕒 #LittleLondonCanada #RepeatVisitRestaurant #LittleLondonCuisine #BeautifulFoodInLittleLondon #FrenchDiningInLittleLondon
