📍DAY 7|Half-Day Safari in Nakuru 🐾

This is one of the few places in Kenya where you can spot Rothschild’s giraffes! 🦏 No black rhinos this time, but we hit the jackpot—two large herds of white rhinos! Our guide said the last group only saw one—we were incredibly lucky! 👍🏻 The rhinos grazed closer and closer— First, we used binoculars, then our naked eyes could see them clearly. Turns out rhinos have squinty eyes—like humans with 400-600° myopia! They can only see clearly within 10-15 meters. A baby rhino also made an appearance! 👶🦏 👂 Nearly every adult male had battle scars on their ears— Our group had minor injuries, but the lakeside herd’s ears were 20% torn! 💥 Just as we were about to leave, a nearby safari truck suddenly pulled out a massive telephoto lens! We rushed over and saw… A hyena stalking zebras! 🐺🦓 It crouched low, sneaking around— But the crowd of vehicles became the zebras’ rescue squad— The hyena chickened out! 🤣 But the real surprise came later… ✨ A buffalo wandered close to our vehicle. We stopped to photograph it, not noticing… Four baby hyenas lurking behind! 🐾 They were adorably clueless: One slept like it had "departed this world" 💤 Two were play-fighting 🥊 The last one was sniffing around in the grass 🤣 We couldn’t look away—our guide asked, "Ready to go?" We shook our heads: "Wait…" He was confused—what’s so interesting about a buffalo? Only later did he realize… there were hyena cubs! His eyes popped wide open—he totally missed the shot! 😝 Nakuru isn’t just about land surprises… It’s also a birdwatcher’s paradise! 🐦 Great white pelicans Pink-backed pelicans Egrets Expert fish hunters But this year, rising water levels meant: 🦩 Almost no flamingos 🚧 Flooded lakeside roads Yet Nakuru’s beauty doesn’t rely on flamingos. The moment we turned toward the lake, the entire vehicle fell silent. Before us: ✨ Sunlight dancing on the water 🌊 Sky mirrored in the lake No stampedes, no cheetah chases—just pure, gentle serenity. Even the wind was hushed. 🌬 #LakeNakuru #NakuruSafari #SafariDiaries #KenyaTravelLog
