Day 7 of Iceland Ring Road: East Coast Adventure

🦇 Vestrahorn (Bat Mountain) This private scenic area requires tickets purchased at the Viking Café entrance. The mountain’s bat-like silhouette is iconic, and the attached Viking village offers a glimpse into ancient Norse history. 🚨 Hvalnes Lighthouse A short drive from Vestrahorn, this spot offers a unique backside view of Bat Mountain—perfect for moody coastal shots. 🥚 Djúpivogur We made a quick stop for the famed "Stone Eggs" along the shore (underwhelming, honestly), but stumbled upon a fantastic hot dog stand run by a grandfather who once lived in Dalian, China—a delightful surprise! 🌊 Nykurhylsfoss & Folaldafoss After detouring onto gravel roads (939 & 95), we found these waterfalls... meh. The real stars were the lonely mountain highways, armored in stratified rock and dotted with countless unnamed cascades. 🐧 Borgarfjörður Eystri (Puffin Paradise!) The best puffin-watching spot in Iceland! Just a short walk from the parking lot, we observed these adorable "tuxedoed school principals" (my wife’s description) up close. ☁️ Foggy Mountain Revelation Driving back to Seyðisfjörður, thick fog slowed us to a crawl—until we burst through the clouds to a breathtaking vista: snow-capped peaks piercing the mist, with a sea of clouds glowing in golden light. Instant road-trip redemption! #Nykurhylsfoss #Vestrahorn#Reykjavík#Iceland#travel guide
